Things Your Massage Therapist Wishes You Knew

Massage therapy is a profession built on care, skill, and trust. As your therapist, I love helping you feel better, but there are a few things I wish more clients understood about the experience.
1. Your naked body is not sexual to me.
I've seen hundreds of bodies, and to me, it's purely professional. My focus is on your muscles, fascia, and overall well-being—not how you look without clothes. You don’t need to feel self-conscious!
2. Feedback is always welcome—especially for long-standing muscle tension.
If the pressure is too much (or too little), if a movement feels weird, or if something needs extra attention, please tell me. Massage works best as a collaboration, and I can adjust to what your body needs.
3. I keep things professional, but I have emotions too.
I care deeply about my clients, but I maintain professionalism at all times. Just know that if I seem quiet or neutral, it’s not because I don’t care—it’s because I want to create a safe and balanced space for you.
4. If you're a massage therapist, I want to learn from you!
Hearing that you’re a massage therapist excites me! Please share your experiences, techniques, and insights. I love learning from colleagues in the field. Let’s exchange knowledge!
5. You don’t have to talk if you don’t want to.
Some people love to chat, while others prefer silence—that’s completely fine! I follow your lead. If you just want to relax without conversation, I won’t take it personally.
6. Massage isn’t a magic fix, but regular sessions help.
One massage can do wonders, but long-term muscle issues need consistent care. Think of it like exercise—you’ll see the best results with regular sessions.
7. I wish our connection didn’t end when you step out of my massage room.
I love building real connections with my clients, and I genuinely wish we could extend our relationships beyond the massage table. Some of my best moments come from getting to know you—not just as a client, but as a person.Â
8. Your body's patterns tell a story.
I can feel the tension you carry from your daily habits- wether it's sitting at a desk, lifting kids, or gripping climbing holds. Understanding these patterns helps me tailor the session to what you actually need.Â
9. You don't have to be in pain to get a massage.
Massage isn't just for fixing problems- it's also for feeling good, staying balanced, and preventing tension before it turns into pain. Self- care is reason enough to book a session.Â
10. I notice when you start to relax- and that moment is the best.
There's nothing more satisfying than feeling the tension melt away under my hands. When your breathing slows and your muscles soften, I know we're making progress. That's the magic of massage.Â
Massage Is More Than Just a Treatment—It’s a Connection
For me, massage isn’t just about working on muscles—it’s about creating trust, understanding, and a space where you can fully relax. The best results happen when we work together, listen to your body, and build a relationship over time.
Looking forward to seeing you on the table—and maybe beyond!
